Bangladeshi Student Organization

North Dakota State University, Fargo ND 58102

Dear Student,

It is a great pleasure for me to write to you, and it will be an even greater pleasure to meet you in the coming months. We’d like to welcome you to the Fargo-Moorhead area and to our community in North Dakota State University, and I’d particularly like to welcome you to our Bangladeshi Student Organization of NDSU, the place for Bangladeshi’s in north-mid-west region. We appreciate your interests and welcome your presence and participation. Together we will keep Fargo-Moorhead (F-M) area live with both education and fun.

F-M area is full of fun. I can assure you that all BSO members will help you discover NDSU and its surrounding locale. As you have already chosen NDSU to be the institution to fulfill your educational dreams, I would like to inform you on how else our community can enrich your life, as you spend time amongst us.

NDSU and the Fargo-Moorhead community together create a nurturing atmosphere for us to master our academics, while providing the breeding ground for future leaders of the world. In the process, we not only get a chance to accomplish the ‘to do’s, but we also get a chance to entertain ourselves. Fargo-Moorhead is a fairly small community. The population embraces the international students, not only those attending NDSU, but also those attending the two other colleges present in a five-mile radius from our school—MSUM and Concordia. We, International students, feel truly welcomed here, as we share both daily chores and fun activities with the local community.

As strongly as we might be integrated in the F-M community, we never forget our individuality or our roots. Here, at NDSU, we are fortunate enough to have an active association of Bangladeshi Students, association that would not be what it is without the help of the professionals working in FM and surrounding area. We arrange and enjoy a multitude of events and even more small-gathering (ADDA). We wear Bangladeshi clothes, celebrate special holidays, and cook traditional food (daal-bhaat).

Another important thing to note about BSA is about promoting diversity. This is where we spend crucial times of our lives with new friends. Also struggles and hard times are inevitable yet we manage to find good friends—some becoming as good as family. The way you will think of home during your first few days at NDSU will be the same way you will think of Fargo after your stay, take my word for it… This community is going to become your home away from home when you successfully conclude your tenure here.

From the hearts and minds of your new friends from the Bangladeshi’s and NDSU in general, we welcome you to come join us in our endeavor. You are about to make a great decision, and we are sincerely happy to be a part of your life.

Hope to see you soon.
